HELP NEEDED IN THE OFFICE FRIDAY MORNING, MARCH 17, 9 A.M.!: We are looking for a few volunteers to help in the office tomorrow morning, Friday, March 17, at 9 a.m. to help fold bulletins for the Organ Concert, the Hollett funeral service, and the regular Sunday morning service.  If you are able to help, please give Laura a call in the Parish Office at 410-778-3477.

COLIN LYNCH ORGAN CONCERT, FRIDAY, MARCH 17, 7:30 P.M. :Please join us on Friday evening, March 17, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. for Colin Lynch’s organ concert.  Mr. Lynch serves as Associate Director of Music and Organist at Trinity Church, Copley Square in Boston, MA. Previously, he has held positions at Christ & Holy Trinity Church in Westport, CT, Marquand Chapel of the Yale Divinity School, the Episcopal Church at Yale, and was organ scholar at Fourth Presbyterian Church, Chicago. As Director of Chapel Music and School Organist at St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH, he led the choirs on performance tours to South Africa and Cuba in addition to producing two commercially available recordings. ​Tickets are $20 at the door for adults, and $5 for students with ID. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow the concert.

REQUIEM MASS FOR PATRICIA HOLLETT, SATURDAY, MARCH 18, 2017, 1 P.M.: Please join us for “A Service in Celebration of and Thanksgiving for the Life of Patricia Gray Hollett” on Saturday March 18, at 1 P.M.  Pat’s family invites everyone to join them for a reception in the Parish Hall immediately following the funeral service. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery, following the reception. Memorial donations may be made in Pat’s memory to the Music Fund of Emmanuel Church. PLEASE WELCOME THE RT. REV. JAMES J. “BUD” SHAND TO EMMANUEL: Please join me in welcoming Bishop Shand to Emmanuel as our guest celebrant and preacher for Pat Hollett’s funeral service on March 18, and for Sunday services on March 19 and 26. Bishop Bud has graciously agreed to cover services for me and to be available for pastoral emergencies while I am on vacation with my family.  I will be away from the office from March 17 through March 27. Please call Senior Warden Nancy Dick (410-778-0811 or 410-708-0824) if you have need of a priest in my absence and she will contact the Bishop.

 2017 “GIVE CHANGE TO MAKE CHANGE” RECEIVES AN OFFER OF HELP FROM THE GRANDE FAMILY AND REFLECTION’S SALON AND SPA:  The proceeds will be given to Camp Wright to help rebuild more cabins at the camp. We have received an offer of additional help from the Grande Family: Reflection’s Salon & Spa, 6344 Church Hill Rd., Chestertown, MD, 410-778-4247, will donate 15% of the sales scheduled during the season of Lent to GIVE CHANGE TO MAKE CHANGE, thus increasing our funds to Camp Wright. POT LUCK SUPPER & LENTEN PROGRAM — WEEK 2: POSTPONED UNTIL MARCH 28: Please plan to join us for Week Two of our Tuesday evening Lenten Program, Speaking Our Faith, by the Rev. Dr. Kit Carlson, Episcopal priest. We begin with a Pot Luck supper at 6 p.m. The program follows at 6:45 and we end with Compline by 8. Even if you missed the first week, you are welcome to join us for Week 2.

 CHOIRMASTER SEARCH COMMITTEE: The Choirmaster Search Committee has been formed, with Sandy Bjork as chairperson. If you know of someone you think would be interested in applying to become Emmanuel’s next Choirmaster, please have them contact the Search Committee at choirmastersearch@gmail.com or call Sandy at 301-675-3093.

COFFEE HOUR HOSTS NEEDED:  THANK YOU to Gretchen Knowles and Frannie Baldwin (March 19), Penni Doyle and Ann Hedgepeth (March 26), and the Roberson Family (Apr 2) for signing up to host Coffee Hour!   We are still looking for hosts for the rest of April and into May.  If you can’t host at this time, please consider bringing baked goods, cookies, cheese and crackers, etc. and dropping them off for use on a Sunday or to be frozen for the future.  Just put a note on your donation: “For Coffee Hour”


  1. REDNER’S SAVE-A-TAPE PROGRAM.  The 1% rebates go to the Food Pantry.
  2. MARCH FOOD PANTRY DONATION REQUEST.  Please bring any nonperishable food items and place them in the blue container in the Narthex for the Community Food Pantry.
  3. CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS.  Recycle your cell phones through the church to provide cell phones and pre-paid phone cards for our military personnel. A collection box is in the Narthex.
  4. BARKS4BROOKE. The friends and co-workers of the Jenkins’ family are organizing a 5K Run/Walk on April 8 to raise money to purchase a medical alert dog for 5-year old Brooke Jenkins, who was diagnosed at age 4 with Type 1 diabetes. Forms are available in the Parish Hall.

 Collect for March 19: Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
