Wednesday Noon Eucharist
Each Wednesday at noon, a small group gathers for Eucharist in the Sanctuary. Except for the season of Lent, this is a Rite II service. There is no music, and the priest offers a short reflective reading or talk rather than a sermon. The service lasts roughly 30 minutes, and is a wonderful way to spend part of a lunch hour.
Morning and Evening Prayer
Monday Evening Prayer
Every Monday evening at 7:00 PM, a group of members gather for prayer. On the second Monday of the month this service is a Eucharist led by one of our clergy, but planned by a lay leader. During the other weeks, a variety of services are offered depending upon the wishes of the lay leader. In the past, services have included Vespers, Compline, Holden Evening Prayer and services from the prayerbooks of other traditions.
Evensong and Lessons and Carols
Emmanuel’s Choir offers a service of Evensong four times a year. In addition in December each year, they offer a service of Advent and Christmas Lessons and Carols patterned after the service at King’s College Chapel in Cambridge. Many of these events are followed by a dinner or a reception, so the evening ends with both souls and bodies well fed.
Throughout the year, we offer special services and blessings for various occasions. For example, we have our “Blessing of the Animals” service that we do in October. We also have a “Blessing of the Bikes” (motorized and not) in the spring.
In the Works
Our clergy and lay leaders are in discussion around the possibility of adding a third Eucharist – to be celebrated either on Saturday or Sunday evening. If you have thoughts or suggestions and would like to be a part of such a service, please let us know!
