Frequently asked questions

What should I wear to church?

Please come to church—don’t worry about what to wear. God doesn’t care and we don’t either! Our doors are open to all.

Is the parish hall available to rent for wedding receptions, events, etc?

Yes. Please call the church office for a building application form & rate schedule, and to check for available dates: 410.778.3477. Our Kitchen Krew is available for catering events, from luncheons to receptions and meetings.

Can we get married at Emmanuel?

Please call the church office (410.778.3477) to make an appointment to meet with the Rector to discuss your plans and the church’s requirements.

Please be aware that canon law requires the Rector to meet with affianced couples at least four times before performing the wedding service.

Also, it is expected that those who are not members of either Emmanuel Church or the Episcopal Church will be encouraged to attend Sunday services to become familiar with the church services.

Can my child be baptized at Emmanuel?

Yes! Please call the church office (410.778.3477) to make an appointment to meet with the Rector about baptism. There will be a simple form to fill out for our files. Baptisms are usually held during the 10:30 am service.

Do you have Sunday School?

Yes, see the Church School page on this website. Nursery is available for infants from 10:15 am until 12:15 pm on Sunday mornings. Older children join their classmates in church for the beginning of the service, then process out at the peace for informal classes and activities.

How do I become a member of Emmanuel Church?

Come to church and talk with the Rector. If you are a member of another church, whether Episcopal or not, a form will be provided for you to fill out and to mail, in order for your membership to be moved to Emmanuel and entered into our record book.

Can someone I know be put onto the prayer list?

Yes—names placed on the prayer list are read aloud during the services for four consecutive Sundays. This can be renewed indefinitely by simply calling the church office: 410.778.3477. Please keep the Rector informed of the status of those on the prayer list.

Members of the military who are serving overseas are remembered and prayed for each Sunday. Please call the church office if you would like to add a name to this prayer list.
