Weddings, Baptisms, & Funerals
Throughout the centuries since it was founded, Emmanuel Church has been the site for countless baptisms, weddings and funerals. Through these major life events, connections are made between these important times in our lives and the God that created us as incarnate beings who are born, live, love, and die.
Baptisms
While most Baptisms and Funerals held at Emmanuel involve members or families of members, this is not always the case. Sometimes it is at these crucial life junctures that we remember the Church and feel its loss in our lives. If you would like to consider having your child baptized at Emmanuel (or would like to be baptized yourself) we ask that you contact the office so that an appointment can be made for you to meet with our priest. Baptisms normally take place during our weekly Sunday Eucharists, and there is never a fee for a Baptism.

Weddings
As we seek to embody the love of Christ, Emmanuel's doors are open to one and all. You are welcome here whether you are a parishioner or not, whether you have been active in church attendance or not. You are welcome here if you have never been married or if you have suffered the pain and disappointment of separation and divorce. You are welcome here if you are straight or gay. We believe that love is a gift from God and that God rejoices in the love two people have for one another. It will be our great joy to support you and celebrate with you. May God's blessing be upon you.

Funerals
The passing of a loved one is a difficult time. Although most funerals held at Emmanuel are for parishioners, the clergy and parish leadership are honored to be able to offer our pastoral support, prayers, and comfort to those who are bereaved, whether they are members of the parish or not. We feel privileged to join with family and friends in giving thanks for and celebrating the life of the deceased through the Christian Burial Service as found in the Book of Common Prayer.
The Episcopal funeral service liturgy is an Easter liturgy rooted in the meaning of the resurrection and the promise that just as Jesus was raised from the dead, we too shall be raised to a new life in Christ. Through the readings and prayers of the liturgy, we rejoice in the certainty that there is nothing in all creation able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord, while at the same time, we share in the grief, sorrow, and loss experienced by those mourning the death of their loved one.
